Creativity in Troubled Times: Transition and Transformation

Moderator: Professor Ruth Saxton of Mills College

Using Virgina Woolf's To the Lighthouse and Mrs. Dalloway as our guide we
will discuss the role of creativity as transition and transformation in
troubled times, exploring how Woolf "makes
us question the meanings of life and death, love and war, family life and
the competing claims of art or profession, intimacy and privacy".

Arts Benicia is a non-profit organization with a contemporary gallery exhibiting the work of selected artists of Northern California. Adjunct activities include an annual open studios weekend, art classes and workshops, slide shows and talks by exhibiting artists, as well as music and literary events. Arts Benicia is Benicia's official arts body promoting culture and the arts in the area.
