Jung-Moo Ahn, known as Ahn Sahn, studied
under the late master Che-Dang (Bae Ryum). Ahn Sahn mastered brush strokes
in the tradition of classical oriental painting and six principles representing
the techniques of Chinese painting set forth by Hsieh Ho in the 5th century.
His work abides mostly by the first principle—resonance of the spirit
and rhythmic vitality. Born and raised in Korea, a mountainous country, Ahn Sahn set out to see, feel, and be inspired by that which might be called “the universal mountain”. He has traveled extensively throughout the Alps, Rockies, and Appalachian mountain ranges. |

He moved to the Pacific Northwest,
where he lived for 20 years, in order to focus on images representing
mountains and seascapes. He now resides in California where he works in
Benicia and continues to explore themes in landscape.
