Janet earned her BA in Art with an emphasis in painting from Ashland College in Ohio and did her post graduate studies in Textile Design at California College of Arts & Crafts, Oakland, CA. Her artistic exploration began as a child. Sewing began out of necessity but soon became a love and a vehicle for creative expression. The body became her canvas. To move your eye upward, the focus became the head. |

Her wearable art hats are fashionable, functional, and fun. They have graphic appliquéd designs that add a sense of whimsy with what they depict. Made of wool she felts and dual layered cotton Lycra, the hats are round shaped berets. Each appliqué piece is individually backed, cut, layered and pressed. Some are tucked and piped. All are straight top stitched for a clean graphic edge which is characteristic of her work. |
| As her appliqué work developed a 3rd dimensional quality, lifting it off the surface. It gained the versatility to live with as well as beyond her hats, becoming separate ornamental pieces. Her focus is to lift spirits. |  |
