Born in New York, Emily has been a lecturer at UC Davis and a visiting lecturer at San Francisco State University. Her post graduate studies were at the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology.

Her work is well known in the textile field, especially in Asia (Japan, Korea and Taiwan). Emily's work has been shown in Galleries in the United States, Europe and Asia.

Collections including her work are IBM; Hewlett Packard; The Albuquerque Museum of Art; City of Loveland, Colorado; Nazareth College Chapel; Aichi Shibori Archive, Japan; Niwako Kimono Co, Japan and many private collections.





Current teaching include College of Marin and California College of Arts and Crafts next year.

Awards include: NEA and California Arts Council Artist fellowships.
