Untitled, 25 x 13 |
I first became interested in art through time spent during my teens as an urban explorer. I would frequently explore abandoned buildings or historical sites, and I began photographing a lot of the graffiti art I would find in these places. From this, I began studying graffiti art a little more closely, and from there my focus broadened to all forms of visual art. After meeting Tom Stanton and discussing my studies with him, I eventually started doing paintings of my own at his studio. Today, as an artist, I aim to capture the feeling I experienced of going to an abandoned area and finding artistic traces of other human beings. I prime most of my canvases with stucco in an attempt to recreate the surface of a wall, and create most of my art with spray or acrylic paint. Other than recreating graffiti art on canvas, I have painted several abstract paintings where I try to create depth through layers of varying colors. |
