Artist Statement

I am passionate about history, the long view of humankind's journey, of events, artifacts and people. My surfaces, like history, are built-up and layered.

As I paint, my mind becomes more fluid, more open to the non-thinking world -- my ego-possessed self dissolves as does time, becoming a conduit to an archetypal world.

My paintings emerge as water from a well, deep and mysteriously dark, a forgotten dream, a memory or maybe where I long to go.
