Blooms Under the Freeway 18 x 24

I am a plein air painter. I enjoy painting out of doors. I have combined my passion for nature with my enthusiasm for painting. Being there and being a part of the changing landscape is a major part of the process. I take my easel to the grassy hillsides or rocky bluffs over the ocean and paint in the sun, the fog, and the wind. In a sense I am a conservationist. I attempt to capture on the canvas the beauty and wonder of the natural world at a particular moment in time. I am an impressionist and a colorist. I work with oil paint. I invoke sun and shadow using thick paint and intense color. I also do figurative work, painting models, friends, and people and animals encountered in the field.
