Artist Statement and Philosophy
When I begin a new Project I choose material I know will specifically mirror the tension of my images.

I like to force the limitations of a material, challenging myself to take the material beyond the limits ofits natural properties. In my renderings I like to capture the juxtaposition of the spontaneity of water and the permanence of drawing all free form frozen in a moment.
Clay sculptures of my 10" - 24" maquettes are born from the creations of my renderings. Once formed, I then hand-rub and massage the sculpture to bring the flow of the macluette to a life-like quality through the technique of burnishing my surfaces. Once completely dried the maquettes are then fired to their own natural color of white. The reflective shadowing of the forms flow like water. from this final version I envision it cast in bronze, selecting the surface color that mirrors the environment in which the finished bronzed will be embraced.

Materials that influenced my work are clay, wood and stone share similar eternal properties and essences of my world. I surround my hands into the movement of the material evoking from the front, sides and back areas "renderings" of my images and emotions, the residue of direct response from sensory texture.

Artist Statement Future Vision
The impact that sculpture has made on the development in the way I view my work has altered the dimension of scale. Growing out of the discipline as a Painter, I desired to move around my work in the physical sense. I am envisioning my sculpture to be exposed to the elements of raw dirt, newly plowed, with the contrast of my "white works", unfolding out of the earth. As for my forms. they are fabricated to 12 foot heights.   I also will place them in the environment of water. The "free forming" solidified images stretching out of the liquid of water. My images are so reflective on my affinity to nature. Combining the emotions of form, creating isolated impressions of the fragments of a movement frozen in time.
