| Judith
Hoff Brooks Metalsmith A Native Californian, Judith found an immediate passion with metalsmithing. Her jewelry designs are hand-fabricated, by marrying metals of 14k and 18k gold with fine and sterling silver, embellishing metal surfaces with rollerprinting and with precious and semi-precious stones. Slate, Pearls and natural elements cast in gold are some of her favorite materials. Judith has developed two directions of work, Elegant Fine Art Jewelry and a custom, whimsical line called "Precious Memories" by using original children’s drawings. She recreates the drawings, embossed in silver or gold, a wearable drawing or messages. Judith resides with her family in Lafayette and where her studio is also located. |

Artist
Statement My work is personal communication. Precious metals, Pearls, Slate, Precious and Semi-Precious Stones are the voice. Design is my Artistic Vocabulary. The Process is how I feel most alive. Much of my work is custom, where I interpret what other people want to say or how they want to feel when wearing my work. I put secret or hidden messages in my pieces that carry the communications. |

Sometimes it is the design itself, by movement, that says what is needed to be said. It is Works of the Heart. What appeals to me most in jewelry is an elegant, timeless quality, something that will not be outdated. Sometimes my work is worn and used as a reminder, a focal point for personal growth or personal healing. Sometimes, to hold a "precious memory", like a child’s expression of love in a drawing. |
