| Artist's Statement:
My California upbringing is so vastly different from women all over our world; my sense of self, my need to be important as an individual is countered daily by the images of anonymous women under burkas, of young girls being sold into prostitution by their mothers. What are the messages? Why are women not owners of ourselves and our bodies? And why are we somehow complicit in this theft? |
